Joan Lawson describes her Vessel Series, "I paint many subjects in a variety of media, but I keep returning to the vessel theme. It seems to be a metaphor for my life as it unfolds. My vessels may be colorful or earthy, full or empty, standing silent or participating in life. They are depicted in all sizes and shapes, each with a unique texture of acrylic paint and/or collage layers. My purpose is to give each vessel a life of its own."
